Telephone Audiobook Group Facilitator

Do you enjoy reading books and discussing them?

Calibre Audio brings the joy of audiobooks to anyone with a print disability. We feel passionately that a print disability or any difficulty in holding a book should not be a barrier to the pleasure and enrichment of reading. Everyone, no matter their personal social or financial circumstances, deserves to immerse themselves in a good book and unleash the power of their imagination.

We are looking for enthusiastic people to help facilitate our telephone audiobook group which can be done without leaving your home. The group would meet once a month over the phone, for an hour to discuss the audiobook they have been listening to. The members of the group will be dialled into the meeting via a telephone conferencing system. The person specification for this role includes:

  • Good listening skills

  • The ability to lead the group

  • Skills to initiate a discussion

  • Interest in reading and discussing books

  • Ensuring that all of the group participate in the discussion

  • Help the group with audiobook choices and liaise with Calibre staff on this

  • Reading the audiobooks in advance and preparing questions if needed

  • Good time management in order to cease the call after an hour.

Please contact Emma on 01296 432339 or email volunteering@calibre.org.uk to find out more. Full training and support will be provided.
