Audiobook Group Facilitator

Do you love bringing people together?

Be the heart of a local accessible audiobook group as a Facilitator for Calibre Audio.

Our accessible audiobook groups are just like any other book group, only instead of print, we read by listening.

Audiobooks help people facing barriers to reading engage with stories.

Through audiobooks, our members can enjoy reading independently, confidently and in a way that works for them.

We are looking for patient, kind, enthusiastic people to help organise and lead one of two accessible audiobook groups in South Bucks:

  • Marlow

Each audiobook group meets monthly for around 90 minutes to talk and connect over the chosen audiobook. Your job is to lead the group, ensuring everyone has a chance to be heard, prompting conversation and supporting members to make their next audiobook selection from the Calibre Audio catalogue.

As a Facilitator, you will need to:

  • Be a good listener

  • Have an interest in reading and discussing books

  • Prepare questions or prompts

  • Help all members to participate

  • Maintain group safety and guide the group where necessary.

The commitment for this role is around 3 hours per month for organising and attending audiobook group meetings. You'll also need to listen to the audiobook; as a guide it is usually around 8-12 hours.

Full training and support will be provided.

Please get in touch with the Communities team on 01296 432339 or email book.groups@calibre.org.uk to apply or find out more.
